The risk pertains both ways: If they say something that is later deemed too positive, they can be in trouble. But it's the same if they say something that is later deemed too negative.
Unfortunately, they can only make an announcement when all terms and conditions are signed and sealed. If that is not the case by the time of their year-end earnings report in February, it will be really interesting to see how they deal with it. In my view, the total silence cannot go beyond that date. There is a possibility is that they have made a deal, but what is holding up an announcement is that they are awaiting the year end numbers, which may be relevant to the deal made. In that case, the announcement will come with the numbers in February.
I am just speculating. But a partial announcement that gives any indication either way could be very dangerous if it is not based on facts, and ultimately the facts go the other way.
