No one is stealing anyone's money. If you owned Newstrike shares on Nov. 28th 2017 you can vote the number of shares you owned as of that date. All of the pertinent info relating to these types of public facts are posted up at Sedar.com for pretty much every traded public company in Canada. Learning about how the stock market and merger works and how to look up and read the relevant company documents (not just the latest news headlines) is basic due diligence. Every piece of information you wish you had before you bought was publicly available.
