RE:Sicpa lost EU fuel marking tender
RE:Sicpa lost EU fuel marking tenderWRONG - the decision has not been made, all 4 candidate markers were forwarded to EU SCHEER for environmental review and draft results are to be presented at their 1/22 meeting. If you read the whole table on page 22 you would take note those methods were for laboratory confirmation testing methods and CM 5 says "Euromarker reference method" all over it...that is obviously SY124.....read much? I believe CM4 is probably SICPA GFI's marker because of the low cost of accesories presented in Table 7....but can't be 100% sure of that....lest I make myself look as stupid as you for your hasty conclusion. Also note that all the other methods involve high expenses associated with use of gas chromatography equipment. While CM 4 may not be able to be detected at 1% dilution in unmarked fuel as well as ones that rely on GC/MS....I think there is certainly value in being able to complete EDXRF analysis in a few minutes, versus setting up a field lab at a gas station while a fuel smuggling cartel is closing in on you. That also brings out the fundamental flaw of the EU Marker system as a whole, by just marking low tax fuels in the EU, they are still very prone to the smuggling of unmarked fuels from just about everywhere else in the world, like refineries in Libya and Venezuala, or subsidized fuels in neighboring countries. This is why the Phillipines is marking all of their highly taxed fuels instead of just their low tax fuels....and SICPA is still in the bidding there....as well as other jurisdictions that don't make their procurement procedures public.
