For those who are trapped- pretty long read but just my takeI will use myself as an example. I currently have 900 shares of hip at $2.62 per share. i was day trading hip when td wasn't fuctioning properly im down pretty huge in my opinion, not as deep as others. why haven't i sold? well im just waiting to see how low this price can go before the merger IF the merger happens. why? well lets do the math. the current deal is 1000 hip for 33 cmed. that's 33X$26 (estimated cost of cmed during time merger happens) =$825
that means that in order for this deal to be fair, HIP has to be valued at .825 cents. which its only .42 cents about that right now. now in order for me to actually make a profit and not lose money completely (because you only lose money when you sell) i would have to have HIP go down to .64 cents or less. which that was the price before any of this happened.
now the higher cmed price rises that better for me as i don't have to wait until HIP reaches to .64 cents but in worst case scenerio having this stock fall below the .825 SHOULD be a target we all want because then it will give us a chance to price correct our own shares in a single buy.
if you don't know what to do yet, my advice is calculate your losses. if you lose less money by price correcting on the lowest SP of HIP before and after the merger, then hold on and wait for the lowest price to correct. but if you've bought too much and don't have enough money to make an impact to lower your avg share price, then save up now calculate how much money you need to price correct at a reasonable level even if the merger doesn't happen. HIP isn't just gonna dissapear and file for bankcruptcy if the merger doesn't happen and if the merger does happen, you'll just have a very expensive CMED which would be an avg price of $52 WHICH you simply price correct your shares over time as well. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ALWAYS SELL AND CLAIM A LOSS. all of these companies are gonna be around until legalization and will get a huge boost in SP. unless you really need the money then 1) don't invest money that you need and 2) sell only the amount you need no need to show losses on your document.
