RE:RE:RE:RE:Trump signs order too put tarriff on washing machines?

RE:RE:RE:RE:Trump signs order too put tarriff on washing machines? The USA wants to repartiate washing machine production because there is too much body odour there, the situation stinks, and they have lots of dirty laundry to sort through and get clean.

They need lots and lots and lots of washing machines.

Remember...the USA has spent a long time playing in the swamp.

When all this low level mfg. gets repatriated, what happens?

I suggest (should it ever happen):
a) Prices spike ... what consumer behaviour will that result in?
b) New (domestic) production lines have increased automation ... how many low level jobs are replaced by a few skilled ones?
c) When US companies go to export into other markets, how receptive will they be? ... duties and tariffs work both ways. A relevant example might be Boeing products exported to the EU in 2019 and beyond.
d) To date, the global trends seem to be multi-lateral trade deals. The goals to be expanding growth opportunities for domestic mfg/services = profits/higher shareholder returns, etc.
e) Who is going to fill all these newly created jobs? ... Unemployment is <5%, policy seems to be leaning to curtailing all immigration, period.

These are just the top of the list obvious ones. I can't make the connection between a growing capitalistic (haha), free market and building trade barriers ... barriers are old school solutions attempting to thwart socio economic changes for short term gain (perhaps) with long term consequences.

I know if my kids and grandkids were to judge the results of trade barriers in 50 years time, they will be thinking, "...what were you trying to do? ... couldn't you think through the consequences? ... they are so obvious!! ... why didn't you care about our futures?".

In terms of 'in Trumps leauge'. No thanks. I prefer values such as truth and integrity.

you sound like someone out of his league.  what duties are all about, like it was just few years ago is to tell those foreign manufacturers that if they want to sell in our country products built in another country with lower wages especially they will have to face duties to compensate for the lower labor cost in those asian, mexico included, countries that competes with our local companies creating jobs locally but that must be facing higher minimum wages etc.  so they have to come built those locally, as we do with asian cars, quota and built locally.  why don’t we teach basic economic classes to our kids?

good luck
