RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Evidence of why we need a wake up callWhich Justin are you talking about??
Justin Beiber?
or
Justin Trudeau?
Just kidding...but seriously....all the points you raised are quite petty. Things are progressing well on the trade front...
...considering the difficult circumstances (i.e. NAFTA craziness).
There is a bigger global trading picture emerging...and the USA will draw the short straw.

Reported that Japanese felt insulted because Trudeau missed the TPP meeting...
Chinese... Sold CSeries to Airbus instead of Chinese... Bla Bla about labor/gender right to china... unable to make a decision to start free trade negotiation.. as results, chinese blocked canadians media's camera, cancelled conferences...
Beside, Justin doesn't care if the agreement is fair.. he only cares about his progressist values and photo ops.

Japan is a part of the revised TPP.
When Trudeau went to the Philippines, they treated him like a rock star.
Regarding China, negotiations for a trade agreement are imminent. Hopefully it will be called a the Canada China Fair Trade Agreement. In fact, that is why the trade agreement negotiations have stalled. Canada needs to ensure that the agreement is fair.

One way to deal with this is to make China, Europe and the revised TPP countries our new BFF's (Best Friends Forever).
Canada has been the USA's BFF for a long time and now, the USA has turned on us, and is mistreating us.
The USA needs an intervention (like on those TV Intervention shows)...but they are not ready now. Canada will need to wait until the USA is ready for the intervention.
In the meantime, Canada needs to carry on and look after ourselves.

Rail line built in 9 hrs link The answer is:
1 yrs EA
1 yr (or more) finance (political gyrations)
1 yr planning and eng.
1 yr procurement
2 yrs construction
2 yrs scope creep and overruns.
Would I rather live in China? Its a great place to visit, but thats it.
This is just a stark example of what competition looks like on a global scale.
Canada at 36M people has really 2 choices, entrench within ourselves, build a thick border and I would argue slowly wither away as the world advances (in whatever form that is) around us.
or,
Aggresively try and stake a position where we outpunch our weight and give ourselves a chance.
These folks who think we could maintain, let alone grow, our economy and improve our standard of living without global trade are sorely disillusioned.
Trudeau is doing a pretty good job here. CETA and TPP were both signed under his watch, although both have been in the works for years. NAFTA ... lets see?
BBD needs the AIR deal to move the CS forward. Its a big bad world out there.
