RE:$6 per gram wholesale is non-competitive with black marketnewdaydawning wrote: In its recently announced deal with FIRE, NAMASTE committed to 1,000 kilos at $6 per gram. The same quantity on the black market would be priced at $4 or lower. That's a sobering fact about the uphill battle LPs face in competing with criminals. Legalization is supposed to eliminate the black market for weed. Somehow, I don't think that's realistic.
I don't understand how people cannot see the forest for the trees. There will be cheap weed and expensive weed depending on the strains, the packaging, the quality etc. etc.. Seriously it's not about buying weed off your neighbor, it's about quality of product that will sell as it does in a regular market place with everything else.
The choices will give the consumer a mix in variety and the branding will play a huge part in what people buy. Price will be an issue for some but not all. Some shop at Walmart some buy at the corner store and others buy at specialty stores.
The black market will continue to be a supply to some but many will go to stores and buy a mix from the many choices that'll be available.
