From my understanding, there is no fixed value for either share, just the settlement formula & the only value that will matter at the time of settlement is the value of ACB shares. It will not care what you paid for your CMED shares, so if you overpaid, you will take a realized loss.... the Formula is 3.4 X ACB shares for 1 CMED share ...thats my understanding, perhaps I misread?

NO, the only share values that would be relevant would be at the time that you make the switch from ACB into CMED. The ratio at this point in time will then determine the gain in the number of ACB shares which you will obtain at the time of settlement.
It then does not matter whether the share price of Aurora drops to only $1 or rises to $100 per share at the time of settlement, since you have already locked yourself into the gain.
