Whatever article you are referencing which stated a “looming delay” that was “set to be announced later on Tuesday” was pure bullsh*t. FAKE NEWS. In fact, one of the first senators to speak (I didn’t catch his name) made a point of saying that,
despite what some in the media had reported, they would NOT act in an obstructionist manner. The significant part of that statement was not that they wouldn’t obstruct passage of the bill, but his reference to the media - in so many words telling listeners that what the media was reporting was BS. You wanna beat the old delay horse to death - it’s already dead. The media is effin clueless and so are you for propagating their horsesh*t.

Officially, the government is still aiming to legalize cannabis by July 1. However, to achieve that target, the bill would need to be passed by May 1 at the latest, which is unlikely based on the current pace of the Senate's work.
The looming delay is set to be announced later on Tuesday when the federal ministers of Health, Justice and Public Safety appear in front of a special session of the Senate to defend their plans to lift the 95-year-old prohibition on cannabis.
