RE:RE:Bombardier and HyperLoop Urban Transit - HyperTransitMaybe Bombardier should have proposed a HyperTransit system like the one described below??
Seems like a good idea.
Also, the cut and cover construction is a technique that SNC Lavalin has used before and is very cost effective.
Maybe next time...eh Bombardier??

Tesla is competing for a contract in Chicago for their urban transit system...Loop...that will go from Downtown Chicago to the Airport.

What IF the basic HyperLoop concept and construction technique is used to build new transit lines in urban centres?
This new HyperTransit system technology would be a LOW SPEED version of the HyperLoop that could quickly and cost effectively be constructed to expand existing urban transit systems in many cities such as Toronto (TTC Subway), Montreal (Metro), Vancouver (Skytrain) and elsewhere. Eventually, this HyperTransit system could replace and STANDARDIZE urban transit systems everywhere.
The basic concept for the HyperTransit system is to use a modular/Lego type construction technique that would be quicker and more cost effective than traditional construction methods. For example, for an underground (subway) transit system, a "cut and cover" construction technique would be feasible instead of a traditional underground boring technology which is typically very complex and expensive.
The HyperTransit would also be very suitable and cost effective for above ground installations.
The above ground "tube" part of the HyperTransit routes could be wrapped in flexible solar panels, thus capturing solar energy and enhancing the business case for the project.
Some logical partners for this project would be:
-Bombardier (expertise in urban transit systems and light rail)
-SNC Lavalin (expertise in constructing and operating P3 urban transit lines)
- La Caisse de dpt et placement du Qubec (CDPQ) - (expertise in financing, and in particular, their expertise with the "Rseau lectrique mtropolitain" project)
-Canada Infrastructure Bank
-Various levels of government
-Etc.
