Many of those trades would have been active traders executing multiple transactions throughout the day. The chart shows trades, not traders. It's not a photograph which can reasonably be expected to represent the totality of physical reality. It's a graph, which highlights certain select data, number of shares traded, ignoring other information, like how many traders were responsible for all the price action.
