This mining project will negatively affect... Environmentalists will gather in front of the governmental building in protest to Amulsar mine project
With the groundless permission of Armenia’s government and with participation of private and international institutions protecting the international capital, “Lydian International” – an offshore company registered in the British Jersey island – plans to exploit Amulsar mine within ten years. Annually it plans to process 10 million tons of ore, while gold will be extracted with poisonous sodium cyanide the facility of which will be located 1 km from Gndevaz village, 300 meters from Arpa river and 7 km from Jermuk resort town.
This mining project will negatively affect Armenia’s ecological and national security, as it threatens Armenia’s water resources and Jermuk resort town famous for its mineral waters. This project creates unmanageable risks for Vorotan-Arpa-Sevan water tunnel, as well as for lake Sevan, Kechut and Spandaryan reservoirs, Vorotan and Arpa rivers.
Anyone concerned with this environmentally and socially risky project is invited to take part in the campaign against the realization of this mining project. The event will take place on 27th of October at 10.30 in front of the RA governmental building.
