RE:NFL taking bids on streaming NFL rightsVery informative article. Speaks to the general state of sports streaming which explains to a large extent why NLN is slow gaining traction. Very early stages and from my personal experience bandwidth issues. Looks like NLN has a good strategy; keep debt low and seek many smaller clients. Their success and continued pursuit of colleges in that sense seems solid. I would not think colleges to be expecting big returns, although who would be more inclined to use digital streaming than today's college student? Streaming is just another tool in their arsenal of many tools to keep their alumni engaged and the donations streaming in. I found the comment "media executives have warned that there are too many games available in too many places" It appears that people are moving towards specialized interest viewing in their geographical areas. This bodes well for NLN because they are scalable and do not require billion dollar deals to meet payroll. More and more these days I'm thinking slow and steady wins this race. IMHO of course. GLTA.
