Goog 640 to 1100 NOT EVEN COUNTING THE SPLIT
APPLE 395 TO 175 NOT COUNTING THE SPLIT
I could list the symbols I have owned and traded and settled for a few grand rather than a few hundred grand. You are right sometimes you gotta think things through, depending on what price you got caught at, but passive holding of good companies with brite future is safer than trying to manage always.  Management means mistakes. I would bet that more money has been lost on those symbols than made. Same with the broad indexes. More lost shorting the dow and spy than been made.
