El Pilar's sale price might be instructive. The purchase price was described by the buyer as "opportunistic" and the contained copper and NPV are each a fraction of ST's, say 15% to 20% respectively. So is ST worth 5X, or 7X the price paid for El Pilar? Makes sense. Particulalrly with a market mindset that has Friedland say "you'll need a telescope to see the price of copper" in a few years. The purchase also shows, like the Goldcorp purchase of Camino Rojo and the Jinchuan purchase of Bahuerachi, that majors buy big assets in Mexico.
