RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:CBC article Feb. 17. Canada/India Business.Uranium is NeededIntersting observations Quakes. Your insight is always very informative. India of course has it's own version of the CANDU Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) and Cameco not only supplies yellowcake but can also provide fuel manufacturing capability for those reactors. The Russian VVER plants will have all the fuel supplied by the Russians who will also remove spent fuel from the reactors and return it to Russia. I do not see the advantages of allowing 100% ownership of Canadian Uranium mines by the National Governments of China or India. I also do not envisage Canada doing that since they refused to allow BHP Billiton the right to 100% ownership of Canadian Potash resources in Saskatchewan. India is building up a fuel repository so I do see the long term supply deals becoming a priority.
However, politically I would be very worried with any negotiations involving Trudeau. He knows absolutely nothing about the Uranium industry or nuclear technology so easily duped by the Indian Government who do understand it very well.
Another interesting aspect of this is the fact that a Canadian asset management company (Brookfield Asset Management) has bought out Westinghouse and there have been overtures to the Indian Government regarding the construction of Westinghouse PWR's in India.
I have owned shares on Brookfield for a number of years and they are extraordinarily accomplished at taking assets not considered very valuable and turning them into prized and saleable assets.
So we shall see.
