The C-Series aircraft is a fantastic product. It's quiet, fuel-efficient, and I love the fact that it's Canadian. Unfortunately, on the jet side of our fleet we're an all-Boeing airline which gives us tremendous economies with respect to training, parts, maintenance, and crewing efficiencies. In addition the C-Series is too close in size (110-150 seats) to our B737s (113-180 seats) so it doesn't help us serve different market segments beyond those which we already serve with our Boeing jets. In Air Canada's case, the C-Series will replace their older Airbus A319s and Embraer190 aircraft which are approximately the same size. I know from speaking to the CEO of Air Baltic that they love their C-Series but again those jets replaced older B737s of roughly the same size. Our fleet of B737s is the youngest in North America so a long way from needing replacement. Hope this helps explain our fleet choices.

Subject: Jet fuel up 13-16% by Harry Taylor
Full disclosure: I own shares in Bombardier.
Mr Saretsky I’ve made this pitch to you before on the CSeries and their 20-23% fuel efficiency not to mention all the other upsides to it as opposed to your fleet of old technology Boeing 737s.
That’s a 7% in your pocket with out trying.
I know it doesn’t help you today but with AirCanada on board it will help you keep pace.
With all this stupid interprovincial trade fight between BC and Alberta; it just seems to me that Canadian Governments and businesses just don’t know how to play well together to the betterment of this country.
Could you not set a good example of how it could work?
Sorry for going off on a bit of a rant.
Just ask Swiss Air or Air Baltic how things are going for them.
Thank you for your time.
Yours sincerely,
