Most people who undergo endoscopic procedures just "don't want to be there" during the procedure; they would just prefer deep sedation. I would myself if I had to undergo. My lady friend that had to have the procedure would not have chosen otherwise but deep sedation for the simple reason that she "did not want to be there" during the procedure.
