Top of page 6 he says "the structural complexity makes it virtually impossible...". Nope, the value of their procedure is that the structural complexity does not need to be resolved. Just capture it all into statistics. There are other ways to get a better picture without looking at gold grades only, the frequency and thickness of veining, and the alteration minerals present, they can be statistical data also. It sounds more like he has never worked in a place where this was a concern, and so has never seen it before, and concludes that it is something that may not work. 

It is unusual to see a gold nine where these procedures are needed to separate the economc from not economic. however it is not at all unusual in open pit mining. The adoption of these procedures have saved many open pit mines form going broke to where they became essentially a standard procedure.

Does this article explain the recent short increase, and heavier put buying, maybe because the timing matches. It looks like a good article as long as a person does not actually read it...
