Americans and American companies can invest in anything that is federally legal in the country they are doing business in. You don't have to look any further than Tilray which is 100% American owned through Privateer Holdings. This isn't the first time a situation like this has emerged. Google up on online gaming back about ten years ago. I remember the Americans pulling David Carruthers off a plane on a lay over from the UK to some Caribbean island at the height of it all. Then the online gambling sites stopped accepting American credit cards and all was good. The Stars Group (formerly Amaya) owns sites like pokerstars and now trades on nasdaq symbol TSG while online gambling is still strictly forbidden under federal US law. Moral of the story is that it's all fine as long as you don't break a countries laws that you operate in. The bs perpetuated on this site is helping no one.
