Whati road

Whati roadThe 4 yrs being mentioned is for the “all weather” road. The winter “ice road”, for lack of a better term  will allow equipment and mine building materials to be taken in. Keeping in mind the winter road has to be built each year (until completion of the year round road), and it is only open for about 3 months. The Tlicho want this mine, on their land, for future generations. Their children and grandchildren will be able to live nearby (Gameti, whati, bechocko, even Yellowknife.) and earn a great living, and start up and run a successful business  contracting its services to the building of and operation of the mine. Any environmental issues will likely be reported right away because it is their land. Let’s not forget that this is a mineral rich area. Once the road is up and running the area will open up more opportunities for the Tlicho peoples.
