The Xinca people exist, but not in San Rafael Las Flores, Santa Rosa, according to data obtained in 2012 by the authorities of the National Registry of Persons (Renap).
Andrs Dvila, spokesman for the mining company San Rafael, explains that the company recognizes the existence of the Xinca people, including some representatives of that community, from municipalities near San Rafael Las Flores, have visited the mine and clarified some doubts about the company .
The previous thing Dvila explains due to the manifestation realized this Wednesday by a group of people that rejects the mining and demands recognition to its population.
Dvila emphasizes that they have never denied the existence of the Xinca people , but insists that the authorities did not register any person from that community prior to granting the mine's license.

This is the official document that confirms the absence of Xinca in the municipality.
With t-shirts and banners that had the message "Yo Soy Xinca", the people showed their discontent and criticized the operations of the San Rafael mine, located in the municipality of San Rafael Las Flores.
From an early hour they concentrated in front of the Supreme Court of Justice to pass through the Congress and conclude the tour in front of the Constitutional Court. In spite of assuring that they did not receive payment for demonstrating, attention was drawn to the use of t-shirts and well-made placards that hinted at the investment that was behind the activity.

The demonstrators made a tour of the Supreme Court of Justice to the Constitutional Court.
The operations of the San Rafael Mine are suspended after the legal actions taken by the Legal and Environmental Action Center (Calas), which argued that the consultations with the Xinca people were not made.
The decision had a negative impact as thousands were left without work and hundreds of companies were also affected because they could not continue operating after the closure of the company.

Xinca claim, as represented by a Guatemal legal and social group CALAS and
UN's indigenous policy if applicable)
