I wouldn't be so quick dismiss. Some of the guest BNN analysts are decent. One I can think of off the top of my head is Brian Madden. His past picks have done okay.

Though, I do agree with the general sentiment. You should always do your own research.

Also Brian Acker has given really crappy advice in the past.
