RE:RE:China?? pfft. Doesn't mean much...Hi Bloomfield, hope all is well. While I agree that the Congo is dangerous and that human life is wasted, I disagree on the election issue. The constitution of the DRC states that Kabila not be allowed to run at all in the next election. He would, however, be allowed to run in the election that follows. So if he had stepped down,  he would not be a marked man.  I often wonder why is he sticking around. What an idiot. How short sighted can he be!?  If I were Kabila, I would signal that I would honour and abide by the constitution, endorse a candidate, and watch as the country transitions power peacefully for the first time in 60 years. I would live it up in Europe for 4 years as the Godfather of DRC democracy and return and run again in 2022. Had he stepped down, he wouldn’t be in danger at all because it was expected. He’d be a hero.  Now that he stayed on, he is indeed a marked man and a villain.  I also think this royalty rate new  tax BS is just a ploy to destabilize further so that he can say what he has said all along as the reason they cannot hold elections: that the chaos is too great and he must stay in power to ensure order.
