Congo, Pebble Project and Risk

Congo, Pebble Project and RiskTops,

You do make one good point. It's hard to find good mining projects with little or no risk. Pebble is the riskiest of all. Very high political risk, little in the way of local infrastructure, and it's sub economic to boot. Meaning it will lose money, no matter the outcome. After 16 years, and a billion dollars expended by assorted partners, they still have not completed prefeasibility. Just a PEA with outdated numbers. They worked on a PFS for 3 years and then abruptly dropped the study after Anglo American quit. Talk about scary.

One thing about IVN. This Company keeps driving to the finish. They don't stop at a PEA for 10 years. You only do that when grades are too low to turn a profit. The biggest risk for any business is an inability to make money, even if cheerful environmentalists do give you the green thumbs up. Now if things can just work out this week in negotiations with the government, the Company will be in a strong position.
