What We Don't Know

What We Don't KnowWhy hold a meeting if Kabila intended to sign anyway? How can they have only $5 billion in tax revenue with the old 30% tax rate? Maybe if they stop stealing money, they'll have more than $5 billion. I don't even know what the government is saying. Evidently there is a new mining law, but they will consider the concerns of mining companies on a case by case basis. What does that mean? Why not consider their concerns now? What about existing stability pacts? Will they obey international law or not? I would like to at least know if existing agreements will be honoured. The Company said they were given specific assurances. What were those assurances?

It's a good thing the Company is still working on feasibility right through till the election. That doesn't require big bucks. Post election we'll see what the government comes up with on a case by case basis, whatever that means. Fortunately for IVN the difficult situation in South Africa has now turned a corner. Platreef can move out from under the shadows. Instead of 4 Mtpa, perhaps this would be an opportune time to build something bigger.
