Orphan drug and Off-label use
The news are huge, and don't think of it as an open door to treat only 200,000 patients. It is important that they consider this drug as "safe" to use. What I've often observed is drug being prescribed for "off-label" (or not as suggested) use for other ailments than they're approved for. This does affect how insurance covers the drug, but consider that doctors are now able to prescribe it. A medical professional like nurse can confirm, but I see this as opening the door for pain in general for all patients that are desperate and do not have a good solution for their pain right now. The clinical trials and getting PP0001 approved for chronic pain etc, will open more doors for sure with physicians, but this is an amazing start already!
