Well-said, Mooseslayer. Especially with thinly-traded names, people get fixated on the percentage swings. If today has a total volume of 10K shares and traded down 8%, does that mean anything? I would argue it doesn't. You have to look at the heavy volume days, on those days, is the stock appreciating in value, or selling off? Use the "manipulation" or the exhaustion of smaller retail investors to your advantage. I.e. In the example given above, without any news or updates from management or government, is the company really worth 8% less? Probably not, and if you're interested in owning the story, days with light volume and larger percentage drops are a godsend.
