RE:RE:RE:RE:RBC direct investing

RE:RE:RE:RE:RBC direct investingI'm with CIBC and although they have their issues I get $6.95 trading fee's regardless of how many trades/quarter I make. I could make no trades or 1000 trades and I will still get the $6.95 fee.  If you are paying more then this these days I would seriously look into another bank to trade with as most of them offer these low fee's with no quota to make in trades.  They also give real-time quotes but do not give market depth.  For market depth I find quote-stream is really good, no issues on crashing and it shows all alternate exchanges in the date as well.  I have also heard CRA is cracking down on people who make several trades per day/quarter labelling them as professional traders.. something to watch out for that's for sure!

droidmeister wrote: Well this is revealing - 30 trades per quarter is a lot for some people on this board ?!? Thanks for letting me know. Are you kidding me? 30 trades a quarter is 10 a month or an average of 2.5x per week. You don't do 2.5 trades a week? But you can spend hours posting and reading opinions on this board? Sheesh, I'm with RBC and I pay RBC $6.95 per trade - do you know how many trades you have to do per quarter to get that fee? A minimum of 150. I'm talking to kids here, aren't I ? OMG. No wonder certain people only communicate via private mail. GLTA, but I dont even know if it's worth participating in the discussions on this board any more. This is an f-ing joke.

DiligentSon wrote: That's interesting. I just spoke to RBC on monday about my never ending fight to get Level 2 and real time. Was told the same thing as always, 30 trades per quarter to qualify for the active trading account, obviously more than just a form. The only place I get real time is in the "detailed quotes", my portfolio is still delayed and that's where I want real time. Are you saying you have real time in your portfolio? The quagmire is that if you do that many trades out of your TFSA, you may get flagged by CRA as a day/professional trader...
goldmanmax wrote: Turns out my rbc is real time, and i also have lvl 2 now. I called a couple months ago asking for lvl 2 and the told me i had to do a ridiculous amount of trades per quarter to get it, i guess things have changed.
