The best comparison for streaming is with the cost of using trade credit, which has a high coupon rate and forces farmers to be price takers when they buy (and finance) inputs, and when they sell outputs.  In most circumstances, a farmer who uses a stream instead of trade credit should drive down his cost of financing.

In addition, streams offer the opportunity to lock in commodity pricing for the duration of the contract and Input now picks up the canola from the farmyard. Those features have real value and nobody else offers those in a financing package.
