“Shareholders as of May 28, 2018, will be entitled to vote at the meeting.”

You can buy shares up to May 28 2018 to use these shares to vote at the July 24, 2018 shareholders Meeting !

Someone may want to gain a larger % of the company in order to influence the vote,,, could be over 2 million oz of gold to fight over ?
