This link has more recent info: Legislation proposing to amend the Criminal Code (offences relating to conveyances) was introduced on April 13, 2017. The proposed legislation is in two parts; the first would strengthen the response to drug-impaired driving in anticipation of cannabis legalization and the second would repeal the transportation provisions of the Criminal Code, including the impaired driving provisions, and replace them with a new Part of the Criminal Code.
If you read the entire article on the DOJ link, you will see that they are definitely favoring oral fluid swipes for cannabis testing. It seems that BLO has to make some technological breakthroughs and quickly. There is no mention of cannabis breathalyzers being considered over oral-fluid swipe technology. Again, correct me if I am wrong here.
BLO has to move and move quickly, that is for sure.
