Descent From The Sublime To The Ridiculous
Descent From The Sublime To The RidiculousIn the News Release, Simmons is glorified as a "branding genius".
The CEO describes him as the company's "Chief Evangelist Officer"
A branding genius and a chief evangelist?? In the Church of Gene Simmons?
Has the CEO gone nuts? Or are the inmates running this asylum?
Changing the ticker symbol of a public company with millions of retail dollars invested to represent a forgettable performer in a "face -painting, fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, pyrotechnics" (Wikipedia) band that produced music of no consequence? And already forgotten in this generation?
Yes, the inmates are in charge - yikes!
As the iconic Chuck Berry wrote and sang ....
"Roll over Beethoven!
You know, my temperature's risin'
And the jukebox blows a fuse
My heart's beatin' rhythm
And my soul keeps on singin' the blues
Roll over Beethoven and tell Tchaikovsky the news"
To close this musical trip down the rabbit hole, the Steve Miller Band advised, in 1976, "Take the Money and Run" and Billy Joel proposed, in 1980, "You May Be Right, But You May Be Wrong"
When a company hangs its hat for success on a faded "personality", the warning bells should start ringing.
I'm just sayin' ... I was a shareholder ... but after this charade, not anymore.
Just MHO
