TORSTAR : IT WILL END IN A WASH-OUTIf Torstar is ever summoned to Court in the alleged conspiracy with Postmedia, which matter is currently under investigation by the Competition Bureau of Canada, some heads will roll over at Torstar. It would be financially damageable given the lawyers' fees and penalties and it would tarnish Torstar's reputation. It could pave the way to a hasty privatization by Fairfax. For the time, being the name of Bob Hepburn is brought forward as the Torstar spokesperson, front man, but if legal action ever occurs, it would then become revealed who, within management, is involved in the scheme. If John Allen (Honderich) is tried, he will be forced to resign, obviously. Since the last Q results, TS.B shares are caught in a stranglehold, trading in a narrow range of $1.70-$1.80. With a 52-weeks HIGH of $1.90 and the company expected to lose $0.18/share in 2018 and lose $0.20 in 2019, a GO PRIVATE transaction will never fetch an attractive price. At $3.50, Fairfax could very easily land a deal.
