RE:Duty to Consult I just find it funny how many first nations scream and cry for jobs and industry but when a potential business partner comes around they sure do chase that business away quick. I guess $62.5 million from a land entitlement gives you some sway in politics. Pelican lake chief makes over 100k a year as seen below.
Chief Dennis Lewis salary of Pelican Lake First Nations.
Pelican Lake | 405 | PO BOX 399, LEOVILLE, SK | $64,400.00 | $104,960.00 |
Pelican lake mission statement: Pelican Lake First Nation has long term vision of healthy individuals, families and community. Achieving self-sufficiency and self-reliance through increased employment is an important component of this long-term vision. The First Nation has goals to achieve employment and economic equivalence with the rest of Saskatchewan, into the next millennium.
Currently over 56% of Pelican lake and Peter ballantyne residents rely on government money. Yet they turn down employment opportunities and potential business to their communities.
I think it's time the residents of Pelican Lake First Nations know how much their chief makes, and how the council is keeping their community from being able to reach its mission goals of being self sufficient and employed.
