Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

I Still Don't Understand the Valuations

I Still Don't Understand the Valuations So what are the Nuuvera intangible assets worth?  What valuation technique used in a fairness opinion can conclude that initially $826m and then ultimately $425m are both "fair"?  What valuation technique allows for a range of fair prices that is 49% different in a matter of weeks?  Would the same fairness opinion provider and same valuation technique have concluded that $100m was the fair value of the assets acquired if the Aphria share price had fallen further.  At what price would the Nuuvera Board say, "sorry that is below what we know our assets to be worth"?  Alternatively, what kind of valuation approach did the Aphria Board consider when they agreed to pay $826m of shareholder value to get the Nuuvera assets.  It looks like they were being pretty generous in that they ultimately acquired these same assets for 49% less - in a month???
