ie 12 months.
From last Sept 2017 ruling by the CC or constitutional court of Guatemala
it said that MEM (the ministry and mines and energy) had to find out (I guess
again) whether the Xinca indigenous people were in the area of Tahoe's mine.
And if so consult with them if they want the silver mine there.
We all know that is a ruse, and on orders of the UN and US the lower supreme
court and higher constitutional court were suppose to close THO's silver mine
down.
Plus Gloria Porras, the head of the CC, is corrupt and has leverage on her to
close THO down at the end of the 12 month's investigation. Her term runs out
mid 2021, more than enough time to make it difficult for THO to stall and reapply
to the CC again to reopen the decision again.
From,
and paraphrasing:
'The CC of Guatemala allows THO to run it's silver mine
while a year long investigation is done whether to close THO's
silver mine down, on say so of the Xinca indigenous people'
https://www.stockwatch.com/News/Item.aspx?bid=Z-C%3aTHO-2504337&symbol=THO®ion=C "As part of its decision, the court ordered MEM to conduct a consultation under (UN's) ILO Convention 169. Per the ruling, MEM has been ordered to consult with the Xinca indigenous communities within a certain geographic area and report results of the consultation to the satisfaction of the court within 12 months."
"Tahoe is seeking clarification from the Supreme Court on the specific geographical departments to be included within the scope of MEM's consultation. Although Tahoe believes that MEM complied with ILO Convention 169 before it issued the Escobal licence, it will fully support MEM in any of its future indigenous engagement and will encourage MEM to involve independent ILO 169 experts to assist in this process."
And MEM did that already and the Xinca were outside the area, and had no say so,
regardless of Xinca's or regular citizens opinion about the matter.
Most likely THO is going to lose, because the whole thing is rigged.
However if the world falls into recession times before then, and looks like it will
with the US ratching up its interest rates, then pressure can be placed on the
CC (constitutional court) to keep THO's silver mine running for the income it
brings into the Guatemala.
If THO has to make up a new revenue sharing agreement with Guatemala
and local community, and better environmental standards, so be it.

THO is still a great gold company without the silver mine in quatemala, with
gold mines in Peru and Canada. It looks like the Peru mine will stay in place,
and the price of THO is already just reflecting the gold mine portions of THO.
Bloomberg says it will be hit and miss what companies in south america will
survive the new socialism movement to nationalize mines in their regions or
renegotiate revenue sharing with foreign mines in their area.
