I'll agree that retail traders are at a severe disadvantage. 1) Most can't sit there all day watching the trading action.2) They usually don't have sophisticated trading strategies or algorithms. 3) They can only view TSX, and remain unaware of the trading action on other exchanges. By comparison retail trades are more like gambling.
However, I don't believe competing institutions are able to connect specific trades to account numbers. Within a single institution, yes. But not between competitors.
