RE:RE:Not good PR for Enercare
RE:RE:Not good PR for EnercareThe supposed journalist who is a CPA does not understand numbers too well.
There will always be people who are unhappy. You give folks a free thing and they will still complain. But it makes a story and gives money to the journalist and the newspaper. whodathunkit wrote: eljoro wrote: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/enercare-story-marketplace-1.4598718
This kind of stuff makes me shake my head. Bad PR for the company. I understand that this is only Ontario and therefore this is a small part of Enercare's business, but the optics of these kind of stories isn't great.
What makes me shake my head is the poor level of reporting of these things. Instead of quoting what a high end efficiency water heater would cost, installed, they quote the home owners number of just the cost of a standard heater and without installation. I have no idea what the high end one costs but installation is going to be a minimum $400 to $500 but probably closer to $800. Also, these rental contracts are basically insurance. There is a cost to insurance.
On top of that, I also shake my head at people's expectations and lack of understanding of what they are getting into. New homes are built with rentals to keep the cost of the new home down. If the heater had been added to her cost, how much would she be paying in extra interest over the course of her mortgage? Nothing is free. People just don't think.
And don't get me started about "free" daycare........
Cheers.
