I'm legitimately curious...we all know ( hopefully )  that any broker can use the #1 designator at will to 'mask' both their buys and sells.

You say ''when you see anonymous short a  company''.....would you be so kind as to explain/expand on that . How do you, in your wisdom, identify any trade..whether it's from Anonymous or any other broker...as a 'short sale' ???

While it is required for a broker to internally note a short sale as such for clearing purposes.....there's no public 'marker' on a short sale at the time of execution...so what is your great secret in identifying any particular sale ( regardless of the broker ) as a 'short'....or are you just taking liberty and drawing a conclusion to suit your own mindset??

I'm always willing to learn....I'm sure many would enjoy your explanation.
