Sukhi, Saudi Arabia and India are not North America. Solar will work in certain areas of the continent but only in a relatively narrow band across the southern half. 

Lack of funding for infrastructure is also another huge issue. 

Some states were giving tax credts for solar energy production costs and for selling their excess power back to the grid. 

Mr Buffet's corporation took those states to court, Nevada first, to contest what he considered to be unfair tax advantages being given to non traditional producers. The courts dedided in his favor and the results effected WIND GENERATORS as well. 

I do believe Solar will eventually become a serious provider of electricity but not until carbon fuels, wind generation and hydro electric generation become more expensive.
