See a big opening there for The Star? This ranks up there with StarTouch as the most ill-conceived strategy ever. How does the impending paywall play into this strategy? Is the assumption that consumers will be so blown away by the output of these newly hired journalists and The Star's award-winning content they will sign up to pay for it?
This is what happens when you appoint a CEO and a team with no idea on how to deal with the current media landscape. A desperate idea that would feed into Honderich's inflated view of the value of The Star. Michael Cooke's weak endorsement of this idea on his way out the door can only be described as Sad! Where is Linda Hughes on this issue? She's from Edmonton and knows this idea has no merit. Shame on them all.
