RE:RE:New York City street light Wi-FiI believe it is meant to cover more than the street and therefore would need to penetrate walls. If the Cable Co's are bidding (which I see as a natural) then WiFi3 will be considered given their association with cable Labs/Mediacom. From my DD I believe  the ax standard will come up short (at least as it currently stands).

The timing could be just about right for a project of this kind given that the next major Wi-Fi standard is expected to hit the markets in earnest some time next year. The 802.11ax standard comes with at least two major new features useful for outdoor dense city Wi-Fi deployments: Much longer range and much better performance in high-density environments.
