You could be right.  China might end all trade.  Xi Jinping has just been given total power with no time limit.  Trump has stunned the Chinese from the time he attacked Syria with cruise missles during dinner with Jinping to threatning North Korea with Nuclear War.  After dealing with the Bushes, Clinton, and Obama, who let the Chinese do anything they wanted short of invading Taiwan, Trump has shocked them into consolidating power into Jinping.  Now why would the Chinese do that now?  One thought is that they will fight the trade war to the bitter end and they fear the labor unrest that that will cause.  Thus, the want a strong leader in charge through troubled times that will take whatever action is necessary to ensure stability in China.
