Still Very Surprised & Dumbfounded By Vote ResultsHey Mates
We've just returned home after a long planned 2 week vacation, but am left speechless by the claims that 93% of the shareholders voted in favour of this "fair & ethical merger". It reminds me of the old saying about the inmates running the prison.
With such a controversial and contentious merger the likes of which we have just experienced, you would think that the OSC and SEC would have appointed an independent arbitrator to count and verify the voting. I personally am able to confirm that more than 1.4 million shares owned by myself, family and personal friends voted NO. And that covers the holdings of just 8 shareholders. It makes one very sceptical at times of the ethics and values that pervade our corporate culture.
Well, like hockey, the game is over, and we have to move forward. We've lost the one game, but not the Cup. Time will tell who was right.
I sure hope the TIGs have a well planned long term strategy. They've now DeBeers to deal with going forward, and without PE at the helm - Whittle is no PE - my concern is that they will be out of their league going forward.
By the way, we are not selling, and remain in this one for the long term!
Cheers,
Brit
