Globe says Eldorado Gold seen selling Brazil project 2018-04-16 07:35 ET - In the News See In the News (C-ELD) Eldorado Gold Corp The Globe and Mail report in its Saturday edition that Sentry Investments manager Jon Case says Eldorado Gold may sell its Brazilian gold operations in an effort to raise capital over the next 18 months. The Globe's Niall McGee writes that last month, chief executive officer George Burns said Eldorado will explore all financing options, including "divestiture at the right price of some of our assets that aren't top priority." Mr. Case says Eldorado's Tocantinzinho gold project in Brazil is likely to go on the block. He says, "All roads point to Tocantinzinho." Within Eldorado's portfolio, Tocantinzinho is one of its lowest-grade, highest-cost projects to develop. Mr. Case says: "[Tocantinzinho] would be very far down the list of rates of return. I would suspect that is probably the main asset that's going to be put up for sale." Eldorado completed a feasibility study on Tocantinzinho in 2015, but plans for a mine have been on hold, partly because the project needs sustained high gold prices to be profitable. An unnamed analyst says Eldorado could likely sell Tocantinzinho for between $40-million (U.S.) and $50-million (U.S.). Mr. Case sees Leagold Mining as one possible buyer of Tocantinzinho.
