I've got a huge stake in CFF, so I follwoed the tenure swap closely. It was a smart play for both firms -- good to see a win-win. And realistically, it's the reason why CFF can't exand or rebuild Mackenzie as they don't have the extra cut anymore (so it means CFP likely saves an operation).
It's going to be an intersting time going forward with this 'new normal' of sky high lumber prices. It'll likely make some marginal stands economical, so that will increase the volume they can pull too. E.g. the high cost stuff, the burned stuff, the really-really grey attack dead stuff. Then it's right log to the right mill -- soemthing that is well equipped to handel awful logs!
