Strains versus "brand names"I've done a lot of research on "brands" in the MJ space. It's fiction. What people buy are "strains".
It's akin to alcohol types. You'll select the type of alcohol (rum, vodka, gin, whisky, red wine) and then the specifics (merlot, cabernet savignon, shiraz, pinot noir) etc Then you look at price. Then the manufacturer. At the higher end, yes, manufacturer becomes important for bragging rights, but really, at the mass market, it's type and subtype that's important. Only complete boozers will drink gin if they prefer vodka.
In the MJ space, the type is flower in hybrid, sativa and indica, oils, shatter etc is what's important.
In all my research, the online shops that have the most strain at the best cost are the ones going well. Take a look at the "pot cargo" shop out of BC. They ship anywhere in Canada today. The only real "brand" they carry is "Pot Cargo" which could be from any producer. That proves that today, "brand" is a non-issue. People will gladly buy the generic "house brand".
The ones with the most inventory and lowest cost for the summer will be best positioned. ACB is well positioned with good inventory for the summer. Does anyone have the numbers on this?
