However, that said, it does not mean that I am not going to make a lot of money from investing in Sherritt (again). As you may know, deep value investing is based on the idea of "reversion to the mean", and deep value investing has produced the best investment results of all ways of thinking about investing including the now very popular investing in good companies at reasonable prices which Warren Buffett has evolved to. Bad things tend to become a little less bad, and good things tend to become a little less good. This is enough to create great investment returns.
George Soros always bought the low cost producer and the torqued player to participate in an expected commodity price move. In Sherritt you have kind of a weird hybrid. It is a low cost producer but it is torqued by its balance sheet. That is why I was not in favour of the recent equity financing, and remain critical of it.
