In the circumstances you describe would a 'big buyer' go around the large shareholders to see if they were looking to sell, I'm assuming that would be perfectly legal. It would be a way to get their position or would the 'big seller' not want to show their hand in this way?

So, they are likely in a mode where they are yelling at their traders "push it higher until you find some volume!". They just want to get in and any price below C$15 may not matter to them as they expect it to at elast double from there.
